Our annual fund raises are:
Hanukkah gifts
We want to to brighten up the Jewish holiday Hanukkah for the most exposed.
Winter help/Eat&Heat
To avoid having to choose between cold and hunger. We help with both heating and food.
Pesach parcels
To make it possible for everyone to be able to celebrate a proper Pesach with both Matzah and wine.
Glämsta
Glämsta is since many years a meeting place for Jews from both Sweden and the Baltic region. A place to share knowledge and tie friendships across the borders. We make it possible for a number of persons from the Baltic region and now from Ukraine, of all ages, to get badly needed relaxation with Jewish get-together.
Besides the above annual fund raises we also have special aid programs for single Jewish parents with children with special needs who have difficulties and for elderly who we want to give something extra in the golden years: project “Building a better life for Jewish single parents with children with special needs in Estonia”
We run the special program for pensioners who we want to give a little extra edge to in the autumn of their age. Project “When memory fails” in Latvia by supporting this anti-dementia project, BJF contributes to improving the well-being and social connection of some of the most vulnerable members of the Latvian Jewish community.
Ukraine fundraising
Since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, we have been supporting Ukrainian Jews. Our Ukraine fundraising received a great response among our members and friends.
Hesed Yehuda in Moldova
Our new area of assistance from 2024. In 1996, Hesed Yehuda at the Jewish Community in Chișinău, the capital of Moldova, started its aid work to support the most vulnerable Jews and there were many who had, and still have, very great needs. The consequences of the Ukraine war exacerbated the needs even more. We have received an urgent appeal from Hesed Yehuda and we are helping.
Vaccination
Vaccination program against influenza for both elderly and children, where needed. Saves lives and reduces suffering.
PGT football tournament in North Europe for children 8 – 14 y.o.
Since 2016, ÖjF has ensured that one or more teams from Estonia could participate in the annual PGT.
